Growing up in theatre, I always loved how makeup helped me to find my character. I loved making characters so much I would constantly be thinking of what interesting things I could do for Halloween. I would create characters and I would be the first one to volunteer to paint others faces for any reason.
I really started to hone my craft while attending the Foothill College Acting Conservatory where there was a makeup class. I went into it not knowing what to expect and left with a new found love for all things makeup. I took the class again the following year and I have continued to be a teaching assistant ever since. This class and its wonderful teacher, Janis Burgmann, helped me to find the confidence to do even more adventurous makeup.
I have worked on a short film, several plays, theatre companies, and my favorite, Winchester Mystery House Fright Nights in San Jose, CA. Fright Nights was a haunted maze and where makeup stepped out from being a hobby and became a possible career.
Over the next few months I will be living in Berlin to study at the Make-up Designory. This will be the place I will post about all my adventures in school, makeup, and while living in Berlin.
